Shari J. Sauter, 66, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at a local hospital.

The daughter of Marlowe and Hope (Smith) Christensen, Shari was born on December 16, 1947, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Alta High School in 1966 and from AIB in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1967.

Shari married Gary J. Sauter on September 17, 1967, in Storm Lake, Iowa. They made their home in Richfield, Minnesota, for fourteen years and Indianola, Iowa, for another ten years before moving to Sioux City in 1999.

Shari had worked for Allied Solutions for the past ten years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and collecting precious moments figures. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Shari is survived by her husband, Gary, of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Jamie (Ali) Sauter, of Indianola, Iowa, and Chris (Beth) Sauter, of Carlisle, Iowa; two sisters, Becky (Jerry) Larson and Julie (Craig) Schuchard; four grandchildren, Teegan, Adelyn, Jobee, and Tanner; and her mother-in-law, Alice Peterson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials which will be given to a charity in Shari’s name.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Alta, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Buena Vista Memorial Park in Storm Lake, Iowa. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.
