Marie A. Siebrecht, age 89, of Alta, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center of Storm Lake.

Marie Agnes Siebrecht was born on June 20, 1924, in Odebolt, Iowa, the daughter of Loren and Jeanette Hummel. She married Glenn Siebrecht on May 1, 1942. To this union, five children were born.

The family lived in Odebolt until 1955 when they moved to a farm near Storm Lake. In 1963, they left the farm and moved to Alta where Marie lived out her life. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked part-time as a cook at the Alta schools and waitressed and cooked in various cafes in Alta. She enjoyed fishing with her friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her children, Carolyn Harris, Tom Siebrecht, and Larry Siebrecht; two sisters; and six brothers.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Bonnie, and her husband, Rod Lubberstedt, of Kerrville, Texas; her son, Doug Siebrecht, of Alta, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Mike Siebrecht, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Debbie Siebrecht, of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy Brock, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Sara Siebrecht, of Laurens, Iowa, Ryan Siebrecht, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Craig Putensen, of Tempe, Arizona, Ken Putensen of Rochester, Minnesota, and Rick Alderson, of Minnesota; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Cheri Knudtson, of Sioux Rapids; two sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Siebrecht, of Odebolt, Iowa, and Fernetta Siebrecht, of Schaller, Iowa; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 01, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with the Rev. James W. Roland officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Alta. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
