Jeanette Buckingham, age 92, of Alta, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa.

B. Jeanette Johnson was born on April 13, 1921, in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Norma (Johnson) Johnson.

Baptized April 18, 1921, at her home, Jeanette was confirmed on April 6, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. After graduating from the Aurelia High School, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Peterson Department Store in Alta and the J.C. Penney Company in Storm Lake.

On October 10, 1943, Jeanette married Craig Buckingham at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. This union was blessed with three children: Norma, Jayne. and Alan.

Throughout the years, Jeanette enjoyed raising her family and working with her husband on the farm. She, also, spent many hours outside tending her flowers, gardening, and fishing with family members.

An excellent seamstress, Jeanette enjoyed sewing garments for her family and doll collection. She had a passion for handwork which included knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and painting. She traveled extensively in the United States with her family and on bus tours, and she loved visiting both Canada and Sweden.

Committed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeanette actively participated in all church organizations. Also active in her community, she joined the Nokomis Study Club, the National Federated Women’s Club, the Eastern Star, and the Country Ramblers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Norma (Craig) Halverson, of Newton, Iowa, Jayne (David) Nestor, of Sheldon, Iowa, and Al (Kathi) Buckingham, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Katie (Sean) Adams, of Newton, Iowa; Kurtis Halverson, of West Chicago, Illinois, Emily (Mark) Truckenbrod, of Gig Harbor, Washington, Kyle Nestor, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dan (Katie) Buckingham, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jeff Buckingham, of Webster City, Iowa; and her great-grandchildren: Seth, Kylee, and Haylee Adams and Vance Henry Halverson; as well as extended family members and friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Buckingham; her parents, Edwin and Norma Johnson; her sisters: Gladys Johnson, Hazel (Ivan) Howard, Georgia (Barney) Campbell.

Visitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m., February 02, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., February 03, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Iowa.
Interment: 10:00 a.m., February 03, 2014, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta, Iowa.
