Linda L. Bethune, age 70, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 2, 2014, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Linda Lee Imhoff was born on December 11, 1943, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Boyd and Martha Irene (Trickel) Imhoff. Baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1952 at the Methodist Church in Rolfe, Iowa, she attended school in Palmer, Iowa, graduating from Palmer High School in 1961. While in high school, she enjoyed participating in sporting events, especially basketball where she became a standout player.
On July 15, 1965, Linda married Robert G. Bethune in Pocahontas, Iowa. They were subsequently blessed with four children: Lona, Travis, Kyle, and Cory.
A member of Mothers of Twins and the Moose Lodge, Linda was also the proud owner and operator of Grandma’s Pretties.
In her spare time, she enjoyed solving puzzles, reading, and collecting “Snowbuddies.” She often liked watching a game of basketball on television or sewing and knitting. Moreover, she enjoyed wintering in Arizona with her sister as often as possible. She treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Lona (David) Stille, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Travis (Lisa) Bethune, of Newell, Iowa, and Kyle (Melanie) Bethune, of Alta, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jared (Sary), Matt (Kristin), and Heath (Brittany) Stille, Amanda (Matt) Fisher, Mark and Travis (Tina) Frederick, Chase Wilson, Meagan Hammer, Jasmine Bethune, and Emma Mills; her great grandchildren: Jaci, Samantha, Charlie, Andrew, Ali, and Hadleigh Stille; Madison Bobzien; and Tay and Jenna Fisher; her brother, Gary (Betty) Imhoff, of Lohrville, Iowa; her sisters, Karen (Robert) Speich, of Algona, Iowa, and Patricia (Denny) Hovinga, of Laurens, Iowa; her brothers-in-law, Merle (Sandi) Bethune, of York, Nebraska, and Richard Groff, of Arizona; her sisters-in-law, Cindy Bethune, of Grand Island, Nebraska, Nancy Imhoff, of Odebolt, Iowa, and Alice (Tom) Townsend, of Grand Island, Nebraska; her special friends, Dorothy Moulder, Phyllis Forsmark, and Merlyn (Bernice) Stern; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends as well as many honorary grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bethune; her son, Cory Bethune; her grandchildren, Tara and Caleb Stille; her sister, Peggy Jo Groff; her brother, Buzz Imhoff; and her brothers-in-law, Roy and Don Bethune.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., February 05, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m., February 04, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
