Diane Lee Jones, age 72, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Fonda, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 09, 2014, at her home in Storm Lake.

Diane Lee Kilts was born on August 6, 1941, to Donald and Marie (Woods) Kilts in Kingsley, Iowa. Baptized on April 5, 1942, at the First Congregational Church in Kingsley, Diane attended grade school in Kingsley. After graduating from Paullina High School in 1959, she furthered her education at Northwestern College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree on May 29, 1967. Then, in May of 1985, she graduated from Buena Vista University with honors, Cum Laude, having earned a second Bachelor of Arts degree.

On September 5, 1964, Diane married Harry LeRoy Jones. They were blessed with four children: Jeffrey Scott, Douglas James, Kelli Ann, and Kerri Lee.

Having spent most of her life as a teacher, Diane retired in 1988, but then she started working at Tyson Security. She retired from that position in 2003.

A member of the United Methodist Church in Varina, Diane played the piano and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Group, the Women of Faith, and the Mothers of Twins.

Diane cherished spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, solving crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing the piano for the Varina Methodist Church, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. A huge fan of Willie Nelson, she also enjoyed walks with her dog, Lucky. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Jeff (Abby) Jones, of Albert City, Iowa, Doug (Molli) Jones, of North Liberty, Iowa, Kelli (Paul) Kraft, of Albert City, Iowa, and Kerri Wenck (Jason Bouska), of Marathon, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jordan, Dallas, Kaitlyn, Brody, and Simon Jones; and Logan Wenck; her step grandson, Tony Kraft; her step granddaughter, Jennifer (Mike) Snedeker; her step great grandchildren: Madison Nielson, Cole Kraft, Katelyn Howard, and Haley and Sydney Snedeker; her brother, Jim Kilts, of Des Moines, Iowa; and her best friend, Gwen Lange; as well as extended family members and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marie Kilts.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., January 15, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Varina, Iowa.
Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., January 14, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Varina, Iowa.
