Jerry W. LaFever, age 68, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on December 31, 2013, in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Jerry Wilbur LaFever was born on October 19, 1945, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Violet (Newell) LaFever. Baptized at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake and later confirmed there as well, he attended Storm Lake High School, graduating in 1963.

On March 2, 1966, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1968.

In January of 1967, Jerry married Donna Zimmerman in Sac City, Iowa. Blessed with two children, Lynn and Brandon, Jerry and Donna later divorced.

Jerry and Donna opened the Lakeshore Café in Storm Lake where Jerry worked as a cook for many years. Jerry also loved street rods and classic cars. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting, refinishing, and selling antiques. He greatly valued his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Lynn and Korey Kollbaum, of Fonda, Iowa, and Brandon and Eva LaFever, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his grandson, Collin J. LaFever, also of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as cousins; extended family members; and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Violet LaFever; his father, Wilbur LaFever; and an infant sister, Jean Marie.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m., January 02, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., January 03, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: January 03, 2014, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
