Dorothy Mae Huseman, 83, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died on December 30, 2013, at the Avoca Nursing Home, Avoca, Iowa.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Brad, and his wife, Angie, and granddaughter, Savanna Mae, of Minden, Iowa; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Shirley Andersen, of Cherokee, Dutch Huseman, and his wife, Joyce, of Fort Dodge, and Faye Peterson, of Alta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel 'Dob' Huseman; her parents, Dode and Wayne Anderson, and her brother, Dick Anderson; her brothers-in-law, Merle (Moose) and Forrest Hausman; her sisters-in-law, Iona Hausman, Lola Radke, and Peggy Huseman.

Dorothy was born on December 19, 1930, at Alta, Iowa. After graduating from Alta High School, she attended and graduated from Iowa Teacher's College, (now the University of Northern Iowa). On June 6, 1960, she married Darrel Huseman. They moved to Fort Dodge where Dorothy taught 4th grade at Duncombe Elementary School until she retired.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing games on her iPad and computer, watching football and basketball games, and keeping in touch with all of her buddies from her teaching days. Most recently, she liked taking road trips with Angie's mother, Judy, to visit Brad, Angie, and Savanna. She also enjoyed watching Savanna perform at her athletic and musical competitions. Living with Brad and his family a couple months this fall, she became great friends with their dogs, Lily Mae and especially Cadillac. Dorothy will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Services are at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Interment will follow at a later date in Alta, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Minden Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 205 Main Street, Minden, Iowa 51553.
