Storm Lake, IowaDeloris M. Newbury, age 82, of Alta, Iowa, died on Monday, December 23, 2013, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.
Deloris M. Roush was born on December 1, 1931, in Nemaha, Iowa, a daughter of Maggie and Guy Roush. Growing up, she attended school in Newell and Nemaha. In 1949, she married Gerald Petersen in Owatonna, Minnesota. Later, in 1970, Deloris married Norman R. Newbury in San Jose, California. They shared their life together until Norman’s passing on October 1, 2013. Deloris was blessed with five children: Bobby Jo, Jerri, Lynn, John, and Michele.
A member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hanover, she enjoyed working with kids, knitting, crocheting, and collecting dolls. She, also, had a love for horses. She valued her family and treasured spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Jerri Long, of Newell, Iowa, Lynn Hogrefe, of Storm Lake, Iowa, John Survis, of Alta, Iowa, and Michelle (Brian) Kruger, of Camus, Washington; her son-in-law, Jon Winslow, of Milford, Iowa; her grandchildren: Desiree and Xandria Coonrod; Derek (Barb) and Troy (Andrea) Hogrefe; Melissa (Nathan) Snyder; Tiffany (Dave) Stern; Justin (Shantel) Jewell; Jolee (Danny) Kjos; Anthony (Tea) Newbury; and Patrick Survis; twenty-one great grandchildren; her brother, Everett (Shizu) Roush; her sister, Shirley Freese; and her sister-in-law, Karen Roush; as well as extended family members and friends.
Deloris was preceded in death by her two husbands; her daughter, Bobby Jo Winslow; her son-in-law, Norman Hogrefe; an infant granddaughter, Wendy Hogrefe; her brother, Gerald Roush; and her brother-in-law, Gene Freese.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. December 30, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
