Mildred M. Johnson, age 94, of Ankeny, formerly of Alta, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Taylor House Hospice of Des Moines.

One of four children, Mildred M. Johnson was born on April 29, 1919, in the Truesdale, Iowa, area to Ivan and Susie (Siqlin) Bodine. On September 5, 1940, she married Kenneth Johnson. To this union, two sons were born, Alyn and Galyn.

Mildred enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and attending her children and grandchildren’s events as she was able.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Dorthy, in infancy, and Adeline Mathaleda.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Johnson, of Ankeny, Iowa; her sister, Lorraine Bernice; her sons, Alyn Johnson, and his wife, Judy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Galyn Johnson, and his wife, Glenda, of Ankeny, Iowa; her grandchildren, Derek Johnson, and his wife, Lorey, of Charleston, South Carolina, Michelle Schroder, and her husband, Mike, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Melissa Carter, also of Ankeny, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Malorie Schroder; Addison and Casen Carter; and Tinsley Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with the Rev. Don E. Rothweiler officiating. Burial will be at the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
