Laureen "Dee" Brunning
August 30, 1934 - September 29, 2013Laureen "Dee" Brunning, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Laureen D. Delp, daughter of David and Laura (Van Pelt) Delp, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on August 30, 1934, where she lived her youth and received her education.
On June 26, 1957, Dee married Dale Brunning in Waterloo, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Richard, Randy, Viria, and Dale. They spent their married life in the Storm Lake vicinity. For many years, Dee was employed at Vilas as well as at the Ken-A-Bob restaurant while it was in operation, both in Storm Lake. She, later, worked at nursing homes in Storm Lake and Newell. Having a special gift in caring for family and the elderly, she devoted her time to providing nursing care.
In her later years, Dee enjoyed doing watercolor painting, playing Bingo, and camping. She was also a long time member of the Royal Neighbors’ of America.
Dee’s life will always be loved and cherished by her family which includes her husband, Dale, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Richard (Katy) Brunning, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Dale Brunning, of Newell, Iowa; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edgar Delp, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family members; and many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children: Randy and Viria; and her brothers: Everett, Ivan, Earl, Melvin, Wayne, and Richard.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
