June 21, 2013 - June 22, 2013Melanie Isabelle Garcia of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Melanie Isabelle Garcia, the daughter of Fabian Garcia and Jessica Schmidt was born on Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. Because of health complications, she was transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Omaha where she later passed away.
Melanie and is survived by her parents: Fabian and Jessica, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her siblings: Carter, Paige, and Molly of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandmother, Helen Schmidt, of Albert City, Iowa; her grandfathers, Robert Garcia, of California, and Dan Axtell; her grandmother, Marisol Garcia, of Albert City, Iowa; her uncles: Michael (Julie) Schmidt , John Schmidt, and Joey Schmidt, all of Amoret, Missouri, Jay Schmidt, of Lake City, Iowa, Randy (Margaret) Garcia, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Alexis (Kimberly) Garcia, of Palmdale, California; her aunt, Cheyenne Buenrostro, of Albert City, Iowa; and her great grandmother, Marilyn Dowdy, of Hawarden, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jay Richmond; her great grandfather, Robert Richmond, and her great-great grandparents: Rose Yates and Henry and Elisabeth Schmidt.
The Garcia and Schmidt families would especially like to thank the Al and Deb Meusburger family for their support and encouragement through this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
