Robert (Bob) Sitzmann, 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Robert William Sitzmann was born in LeMars, Iowa, on February 3, 1930, to John (Jack) and Leila (Saunders) Sitzmann. After graduating from Leeds High School in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1947, he served in the Navy/Reserves from 1948 to 1952.

On November 28, 1953, Bob married Charlotte J. McGuire in Danbury, Iowa. At that time, he was working as a ceramic tile setter. In 1961, he moved with his family to Storm Lake to start his employment with Moorman’s Manufacturing & Equipment Co. of Quincy, Illinois, as a sales representative. In time, he was promoted to District Manager. After retiring in 1987, he worked part-time at the Family Health Center for over nine years.

Bob will always be remembered for his generous, kind, and loving nature. Moreover, he had a special place in his heart for his beautiful bride of sixty years, his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He also had a host of friends with whom he enjoyed morning coffee, golf, and cards. Active in his community, he belonged to the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree Rosati Assembly, and served as Grand Knight from 1975 to1976 when the new KC Hall in Storm Lake was built. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he also served there as an usher.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and his children: Ronda (Mark) Roby, of Watertown, South Dakota, Marda Mayhan, of Omaha, Nebraska, Gaylene (Paul) Kestel, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Rob (Rebecca) Sitzmann, of Eagan, Minnesota, Donna (Jim) Pittman, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Nadine (Doug) Harskamp, of St. Peters, Missouri, Paula (Mark) McCaulley, of Urbandale, Iowa, Ed (Tonya) Sitzmann, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Jay (Shannon) Sitzmann, of Wentzville, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Celesta Barnes, of Canyon Lake, California, and Maureen Persico, of New Brighton, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Julie Sitzmann, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Richard; an infant granddaughter, Jill Marie Kestel; a brother, Glenn; two brothers-in-law: Tom Persico and Francis Barnes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic School Foundation, 320 Seneca St., Storm Lake, Iowa. 50588.

Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., May 19, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., May 20, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Vigil Service: 8:00 p.m., May 19, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: May 20, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
