Thelma B. Cash, age 98, surrounded by her loving family at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on May 7, 2013.
The daughter of William and Ava (Kimball) McKibben, Thelma Blanche McKibben was born on August 31, 1914, in Clear Lake, Iowa.
After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1931, Thelma met Henry Cash whom she married on July 15, 1933. The couple, then, relocated to Laurens, Iowa, where they were blessed with three daughters, Jerry, Judy, and Joyce. After Thelma and Henry divorced, she moved to Storm Lake in 1968.
Thelma spent her life as a homemaker. When she wasn’t caring for her own family, she spent her time as a domestic cleaner and housekeeper for several other families. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing, reading, sewing, and bowling. She treasured spending time with her family and looked forward to special visits from her great-grandchildren, Michaela (Nick Simmons) and Holly Boyd, and her son, Trey.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.
Thelma is survived by her daughters: Judy Krout, and her husband, Richard, of Lakeside, Iowa, and Joyce Polfer, and her husband, Roger, of Austin, Colorado; her grandchildren: Stephen (Keri) Hartwell, Paula (Ron) Gerhardt, Kevin (Tracy) Hartwell, Tracy (Roger) Robinson, Jerry Gene Polfer, Terri (Mark) Rebhuhn, and Jim Krout; fourteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jeralyn “Jerry” Hartwell; and a brother, Virgil McKibben.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., May 24, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
