Sandra Swanson, age 73, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on March 4, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Sandra S. Warne was born on November 2, 1939, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Sally (Daniels) Warne. Baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church, she attended school in Sioux Rapids, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School in 1957.
On May 28, 1960, Sandra married Don Swanson in Sioux Rapids. They were blessed with three children: Angela, Steven, and Tracy.
A faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Sandra never missed a Sunday service until she was no longer able to do so because of her declining health. She enjoyed volunteering throughout Storm Lake including at Harker House.
A kind-hearted and caring person, Sandra spent many hours compassionately supporting the elderly. She also spent numerous hours tending to her garden, and she enjoyed eating the fresh produce. In addition, she had a love for animals, especially her dogs. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She valued her family and friends and enjoyed supporting her grandchildren at their events.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Don Swanson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Angela (Chris) Archacki of Seven Hills, Ohio, and Steven Swanson, of Lakeside, Iowa; her son-in-law, Tom Mork, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Casey, Sean, Adam, and Bailey Archacki; Bryce Husske; Alissa Swanson; and Camryn and Keaton Mork; and her brother-in-law, John Swanson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tracy Mork; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Swanson.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., March 06, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., March 07, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
