Robert L. Cassidy, age 69, of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 21, 2013, at his home in Ames.

Robert L. Cassidy, the son of Marshall and Doris (Delbridge) Cassidy, was born in Gilman, Illinois, on February 4, 1944. At the age of seven, he moved with his family to Storm Lake where he lived his youth and received his education. After graduating from Storm Lake High School, he continued his education at Nettleton College in Sioux City where he earned an Associate of Arts degree. He completed his formal education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

Bob took advantage of several employment opportunities throughout his lifetime. From 1967 to 1972, he was employed at the Hy-Grade Plant in Storm Lake. From 1972 to 1976, he worked at the Harbor House. Then, he moved to Columbus, Nebraska, to work for his brother at Don’s Livestock and Well Drilling for the next six years. In 1988, he moved to Ames where he spent the remainder of his professional career in the financial department of the Iowa Department of Transportation. After retiring in 2010, he continued to make his home in Ames.

Bob’s life is honored and remembered by his family which includes his brother, Don, of High Point, North Carolina; and his sister, Pat Millard, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as several nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
