Dorathea Kruse
March 18, 1910 - October 24, 2011Storm Lake, Iowa
Dorathea Kruse, age 101, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on October 24, 2011, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Dorathea was born on March 18, 1910, at home in Grant Township, rural Storm Lake, the daughter of Fred H. and Ida (Hartje) Buchholz. On April 3, 1910, Dora was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake where she was later confirmed on April 13, 1924.
On June 6, 1929, Dora married August Kruse at Grant Township. They were blessed with four children: Donald, Darlene, Wayne, and Corwin.
Dora enjoyed quilting and crocheting, especially The Lord’s Prayer. She crocheted around six hundred twenty last names for people. Dora loved playing cards. She treasured her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Donald (Carol) Kruse, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Darlene Kruse and Wayne (Marian) Kruse, both of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Corwin (Janice) Kruse, of Albert City, Iowa; her grandchildren: Retha (Jerry) Wirth, of Spencer, Iowa, Renee (Tom) Phillips, of Laurens, Iowa, Russell (Sandy) Kruse, of Alta, Iowa, Randal (Julie) Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Ramon Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Rhonda (Dick) Archer, of Bricelyn, Minnesota, Becky (Jeff) Kindwall, of Belmond, Iowa, Kevin Kruse, and friend, Heather, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Jason (Amy) Kruse, of Albert City, Iowa; her great-grandchildren: Jayme (Mandie) Richter, Kari Richter, DeaDra (Mark) Jeter, Carl (Melissa) Brent, Vanessa Brent, Amee (Jeff) Lundberg, Monica (Dustin) Munro, Katie (Brandon) Berkland, Robyn (Pat) Diekman, Mandi Kruse, Tiffanie (Chad) Wenell, Trista Kruse, Ryan (Jessica) Kruse, Jessica (Kyle) Greene, Megan (Matt) Spreacker, Allison Kruse, Shawn (Michelle) Archer, Shannon (Corrie) Archer, Shaina (Jerry) Weis, Derek Kindwall, Riley Kindwall, Keegan Kruse, Alyssa Kruse, Toby Kruse, and Titus Kruse; her great great-grandchildren: Dakota, Kailee, Aubrea, Dylan, Peyton, Gavin, Austin, Owen, Madison, Abbigal, Morgan, Kennady, Hayden, Sydney, Brennan, Brody, Landen, Hunter, Kadin, Adyson, Isabella, Braylen, Hailey, Samantha, Ryder, Devan, and Carter; her sisters: Alma Boettcher, Leona Boettcher, and Lea Gaes, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family and friends.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ida Buchholz; her husband, August Kruse; her sister, Paula Madison; her brothers: Arthur, Raymond, and Walter Buchholz; her granddaughter-in-law, Teresa Kruse; and two great-great-grandchildren: Hannah and Aiden.
Visitation: 4-8:00 p.m., October 28, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., October 29, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rural Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: October 29, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rural Storm Lake, Iowa.
