Mathilda Olander was born in Grenaa parish Smaaland, Sweden on January 18, 1854 and died, as stated last week, on Wednesday evening, May 28, at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 10 days, She came to America in 1879 and settled at Moline, Illinois, coming to Fairfield township in 1883.

In the year 1884 she was married to Axel Ponsar and to this union were born seven children, namely, Victoria, who died July 28, 1905; Mrs. Henry Liljenthal, of Mora, Minnesota; Mrs. August Clausen; Frank; Oscar; Alma and Bertha, who are left to mourn her departure, beside the father and husband. There are also five grandchildren left to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. E. Olsson, pastor of the Lutheran church, of which she was a member, on Saturday afternoon from the home and the church as previously stated. The body was laid to rest in the Fairfield cemetery ery.
