Marita P. Kenyon, age 60, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home in Storm Lake.

Marita P. Kenyon, a daughter of Marcellus and Marian (Boyd) Wernimont, was born on March 2, 1959, in Carroll, Iowa. Baptized as an infant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn, Iowa, and later confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Sioux Rapids, Iowa, she attended school in Rembrandt, graduating from Rembrandt High School in 1977. Next, she enrolled at Spencer School of Business where she earned her degree as a dental assistant in 1978.

On July 1, 1978, Marita married Don Kenyon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were, subsequently, blessed with two children, Brett and Teri. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she served with the church guild. In addition, she belonged to the Cancer Survival Club and Bosom Buddies. She loved spending time with her family and truly treasured visiting with her grandchildren. Undoubtedly, she will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Don Kenyon, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Brett (Amy) Kenyon, of Polk City, Iowa, and Teri (Will) Hood, of Omaha, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Peyton, Nora, and Josh; and her siblings: Michael (Myrna) Wernimont, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Marilyn (Jim) Nelsen, of Albert City, Iowa, Mark (Karen) Wernimont, of Sac City, Iowa, Margaret (Scott) McDermott, of Estherville, Iowa, Mary (Blair) Raveling, of Linn Grove, Iowa, Marvin (Cindy) Wernimont, of Cherokee, Iowa, Martin (Beth) Wernimont, of Arizona, Maynard Wernimont, of Mississippi, Myron (Sandy) Wernimont, of Spencer, Iowa, Milo (Le Anne) Wernimont, of Pomeroy, Iowa, Maxine (Larry) Hoffman, of Des Moines, Iowa, Marsha (Mark) Kantack, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Marlys (Bob) Jennings, of Algona, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Marita was preceded in death by her parents, Marcellus and Marian Wernimont; her brother, Mendal Wernimont; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Wernimont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, June 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a rosary. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
