Fonda J. Sievert
September 14, 1944 - May 31, 2019

Fonda J. Sievert, age 74, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Center in Holstein, Iowa.

Fonda Jane Sievert, a daughter of Ferd and Darlene (Barth) Thomsen, was born on September 14, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa. Baptized as an infant at the Rock Branch United Methodist Church in Correctionville, Iowa, and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa, she attended country school near Correctionville and Cushing and then graduated from Anthon High School in 1962.

Fonda married Alwayne Meyer, and they were blessed with one child, Craig Meyer. After they divorced, she married Robert “Bob” Sievert on October 3, 1964. They were blessed with one daughter, Robbi Sievert.

Fonda was known as the “sample lady” at the Hy-Vee Food Store in Storm Lake although she did nearly every job possible during her twenty-nine years there. Her coffee customers will forever remember her for her happy birthday tributes.

Very much avid NASCAR and drag racing fans, she and Bob often arranged their vacations around attending various races throughout the country. Fonda, however, wasn’t satisfied with just watching racing. She, also, became a proud member of the pit crew of the Cy Chesterman Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Nevertheless, her family came foremost in her life. Fonda loved caring for all of them in any way possible. She would spoil the grandkids and great-grands” often and with pride. Moreover, she loved giving gifts and celebrating holidays and events with her family. Indeed, she never overlooked a birthday or a special occasion.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bob Sievert, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Craig (Michelle) Meyer, of Lawton, Iowa, and Robbi (Chad) Hansen, of Schaller, Iowa; her brother, Stan (Debbie) Thomsen, of LeMars, Iowa, and his family; her grandchildren: Kyle (Kathryn) Meyer, Bryce Meyer (special friend, Heidi Keller), Kelsey (Andrew) Roghair, and Lucas Hansen; her great grandchildren: Elijah, Noah, and Abigail Meyer; and Claire and Taya Jane Roghair; her brother-in-law, Richard (Karen) Petersen; her sister-in-law, Vida Palmer, and their families; and her uncle, Roy Sievert. Fonda was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Jack Mahrt; a still-born brother, Richard Ray Thomsen; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Palmer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE.
