LuVerne F. Vonnahme
October 7, 1927 - May 7, 2019

LuVerne Francis Vonnahme, age 91, of Remsen, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

LuVerne was born on October 7, 1927, in Carroll, Iowa, to William and Laura (Noethe) Vonnahme. Baptized as an infant at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale, Iowa, he attended school in Carroll, graduating from Carroll High School in 1946. On May 24, 1949, LuVerne married Alice Pudenz at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in rural Carroll. Subsequently, they were blessed with five children: Neil, Mark, Tim, Alan, and SueAnn. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, LuVerne, also, belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He, very much, treasured his faith.

In his spare time, LuVerne enjoyed traveling with his wife, Alice. In addition, he loved dining with family and friends. Indeed, he valued his family and spending time with them. Undoubtedly, he will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Neil (Denise) Vonnahme, of Redmond, Washington, Mark (Rosie) Vonnahme, of LeMars, Iowa, Tim (Barb) Vonnahme, of Henderson, Nevada, Alan (Kimberly) Vonnahme, of Villisca, Iowa, and SueAnn (Tom) Lastuvka, of Clive, Iowa; his grandchildren: Molly (Brandon) Bauer; Stephanie (Adam) Jones; Becca (Matt) Klein; Michael Lastuvka; Jill (Alexis) Marmol; Adam (Sarah) Vonnahme, Jeff (Nicole) Vonnahme, Mason Vonnahme; Matt (Tara) Vonnahme; Morgan Vonnahme; and Rachel (Garrett) York; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law: Ken (Karen) and Fred (Theresa) Pudenz; as well as other extended family members and friends. LuVerne was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Laura Vonnahme; his wife, Alice Vonnahme; two brothers: Darrell and Bill Vonnahme; one sister, Ruth Schwartzkopf; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Vonnahme.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:15 p.m. followed by a vigil service all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
