January 9, 1927 - May 2, 2019

Dale Dean Franklin Barr, age 92, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Dale was born on January 9, 1927, in Alta, Iowa, to Leonard and Kirsten (Henricksen) Barr. After attending school through the tenth grade, he enlisted in the United States Army Airforce in 1945 to serve his country during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he joined the VFW and AMVETS.

On July 2, 1949, Dale married Jacqueline B. Boyd at the Courthouse in Luverne, Minnesota. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Gayle, Kim, Nancy, and Kirsten.

In his spare time, Dale enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved experiencing the outdoors and traveling to the casino. In addition, he valued his family, and treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will, most definitely, be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Gayle (Terry) Hermann, of Slater, Iowa, Kim (Mike) Kiesey, of Burnside, Iowa, Nancy Barr, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Kirsten Jones, of Estherville, Iowa; his grandchildren: Amy Freeman (Troy Madsen); Trent and Ryan Hermann; Cody and Tommy (Alexis) Jones; and Jodi (Joe) Steffes; his great grandchildren: Marcus and Maryssa Check; Maddison and Savanna Freeman; Caden, Gillian, Hunter, Libby, and Parker Hermann; Jameson Jones; Chantalle (Jason) Noelck; Jordan Slotten; Chance, Kennedy, and Rylee Steffes; and his great-great-grandchildren: Alexa Slotten and Carter Noelck; as well as extended family members and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie Barr; his grandson, Aaron Check; his brother, Roger Barr; his sisters: Dorothy (Glen) Yunge, Bonnie (Noel) Walsh, Marge (Orris) Brickson, and Doris (Russell) and Barbara (Gary) Nelson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in ALTA. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 6, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in ALTA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
