Kenneth "Skinny" Weier, age 42, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

On January 7, 1977, Keith and Thelma Weier were blessed with Kenneth Earl’s entrance into this world. Living his entire life in Sioux Rapids, he enjoyed his experiences on the farm with all the animals and tractors. Even on the edge of town, animals were always close by.

In May 1996, Ken graduated from high school with a loyal group of friends. All these years later, he, still, kept in touch with most of them. Indeed, he loved hanging out with friends and making new friends. He, always, had stories to tell and his job as a bartender allowed him to continue meeting people and telling stories.

A grease monkey, Ken loved to get dirty. For years, he would be helping various friends with their race cars. For years, he worked at Don Pierson and Graham Tire in Spencer changing oil. An iron junky, he spent many days hauling iron and appliances. Pulled to driving semi, he spent the end of his life driving a grain semi with Aaron Anderson.

Throughout his life, Ken had many interests. He, still, had the toy tractor and farm sets he collected as a youngster. He joined the NASCAR craze and for years loved watching those races. In addition, he traveled to many local tracks to watch his friends race. He, also, loved to watch monster trucks, action movies, Iowa Hawkeye and Dallas Cowboys’ football, Atlanta Braves’ baseball, and wrestling. Ken was excited to hear the Rebels make their way to the playoffs in any number of sports: four wheeling, deer hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends filled many hours and many days.

Ken, even, tried his hand at marriage and raising four stepsons. The marriage ended, but his friendship with Michael and Alex continued. He loved getting to know his grandson, Caden. He didn’t care if others were blood relatives or not. Anyone with his family became his family. Proud of the adults that Kazi and Jesse became, he, often, told them so. He loved his niece, Tara, with his whole being, always picking on her with a tease or spoiling her with whatever she wanted. He shared his heart with many. Family and friends knew that he loved them all and that he would never forget any of them.

On February 20, 2019, Ken left us to see his mom again and meet his little, older brother, David. All his grandparents and other relatives and friends were waiting for him.

Ken will be sorely missed not only by his dad, but also by Dorothy, John, Fred, Frankie, Tara, Kazi, Jesse, Michael, Melanie, Caden, and Alex (AJ) as well as by his many other relatives and friends. The big ol’ teddy bear is gone, but his memory will live on forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will follow in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the CHURCH. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
