Yong Maloutaphong
June 9, 1932 - January 2, 2019Yong Maloutaphong, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
A son of Fong and Phoung Maloutaphong, Yong was born on June 9, 1932, in Lao. He married Kham Maloutaphong, and subsequently, they had six children: Phougkhong, Ki, Khamphaeng, Bounsong Maloutaphong, Saengkeo (Noy) Nera, and Leokham Thabansouk. Yong loved to attend temple. He, also, enjoyed exercising, walking, and gardening. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include six children; his grandchildren: Ount, Nap, Janny, Allan, Joy, Tip, Dennis, Aaron, Grace, Hong, and Scarlett; and his great grandchildren: August, Doughlas, Bic, and Bee; as well as extended family members and friends. Yong was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kham; and one brother, Fhong.
Traditional Buddhist Rites will be held Friday, January 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
