Fidelis "Dae" Hibbs
May 12, 1923 - December 20, 2018

Fidelis "Dae" Hibbs, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Dae was born on May 12, 1923, at Storm Lake, Iowa, to Edward and Rose Mernin. In 1941, she graduated from Sulpher Springs [Iowa] High School. After attending the National Business Training School in Sioux City, Iowa, she began working at Citizens First National Bank, Storm Lake, Iowa, during World War II. On August 7, 1945, she married Edwin Hibbs at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Storm Lake, Iowa. A member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the weekly Prayer Group, she participated in several card clubs and avidly followed her favorite sports.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jerry Hibbs; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Mernin and Lois Mernin; as well as extended family members. Dae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin Hibbs; her children: Jeanette, Jimmy, and Gloria Hibbs; her siblings: Gene Mernin, Harold Mernin, and Margaret Sievers; her brother-in-law, Vernon Sievers; and her god-child, Marlene Hinkhouse.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. and last until the service time on Thursday at the church. A rosary will, also, be recited at 9:30 a.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
