December 29, 1967 - November 18, 2018

Comforted by his daughters, Jeffrey Dean Nyren, age 50, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of Storm Lake and Albert City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Jeff was born on December 29, 1967, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Dean and Mary (Taylor) Nyren. He spent his years growing up in Albert City where everyone knew him as the class clown. After graduating from Albert City-Truesdale High School in 1986, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College for Criminal Justice.

He accepted his first police job as a patrolman with the City of Remsen. He, subsequently, served as an officer with the City of Perry and later worked his way up to Detective at the City of Storm Lake. Along the way, he became a trained EMTI, baton instructor, defensive tactics instructor, SCUBA certified instructor, hostage negotiator, and school resource officer. Because of his abilities, he was once featured on World’s Wildest Police Chases.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Alexandrea (Michael) Keller, of Onawa, Iowa, and Teagan Nyren (Keith Winger, fiancé) of Storm Lake, Iowa; his parents, Dean and Mary Nyren, of Albert City, Iowa; his brother, Thomas (Karla) Nyren, of Johnston, Iowa; and his niece and nephew, Emily and Nicholas Nyren; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will take place at a later date. The family will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. and after the celebration. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
