November 12, 1936 - September 21, 2018Kenneth Leon Schuler, age 81, of Chaska, Minnesota, died peacefully of COPD on Friday, September 21, 2018, at his home.
The man, the rock, our legend: one of four children, Kenneth was born on November 12, 1936, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Thomas and Flora (Demers) Schuler. In 1955, he graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake, Iowa. On October 20, 1956, he married Ardis Stroup at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were, subsequently, blessed with four children. A resident of Chaska since 1970, Ken worked as a Wholesale Produce Broker for SuperValu, Wholesale Produce, and Broback for over thirty years. He was also employed at Mystic Lake Casino as a training supervisor. He loved his family, golfing, fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Thomas; his brothers-in-law, Norman and Elvin Stroup; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene and Laura Jean Stroup.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Ardis; his children: Steven, of Golden Valley, Arizona, Dawn (Scott) Engelman, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Deborah (Dave) Bischoff, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Bradley (Erica), of St. Bonifacius, Minnesota; nine grandchildren: Kyle (Kris) Bischoff; Lindsey (Travis) Hagen; Andrew, Ashlyn, Graham, Laura, Nikolais (Amber), and Raelyn Schuler; and Kara (Kenny) Stemig; four great grandchildren: Wyatt, Logan, Cohen, and Harper; his siblings: Ron (Maurita) Schuler, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Phyllis (David) Haakinson, of Wilson, North Carolina, and Fred (Debbie) Schuler, of Wexford, Pennsylvania; his siblings-in-law, Keith (Barb) Stroup, of Lebanon, Oregon, Joyce (Richard) Hegna, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mardelle Stroup, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
We will, always, be reminded of how blessed we have been to have this hard-working, selfless, humorous, and loving person in our lives. He instilled values that make all of us better people, better partners for our spouses, and better parents for our children. We are, eternally, grateful for every moment we spent with him.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, October 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM with the family receiving friends from 10:00 and 11:00 AM, all at the Westwood Community Church, 3121 Westwood Drive, Excelsior, Minnesota, with Pastor David Trautmann officiating.
