Bruce S. Carlson
November 28, 1968 - October 1, 2018Bruce Scott Carlson, a son of Dennis and Cathie (Goertz) Carlson, was born on November 28, 1968, in Sioux City, Iowa. Baptized at the Arion Congregational Church in Arion, Iowa, in 1971, he attended grade school at Dow City-Arion and graduated from high school there in 1987. On October 8, 1994, he married Tracy (Stauber) Carlson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were, subsequently, blessed with three children: Amanda Sue, Hanna Lynn, and Nathan Jeffrey. Active in his community, Bruce had served on the Storm Lake city council since 2016. Also known as a “Beer Enthusiast,” he enjoyed grilling, following the Hawkeyes and Bears, attending sporting events, and coaching football and track in his free time.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tracy Carlson, of Storm Lake; his children: Amanda (Aaron) Adams, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Nathan Carlson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his parents, Dennis and Cathy Carlson; his brothers, Dave (Alicia) Carlson, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Dan (George Jacobson) Carlson, also of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his sister, Bobbie Jo (Carlson) Backer, of Norwalk, Iowa; his brother- and sister-in-law, Tony and Amy Stauber, of Fonda, Iowa; and his parents-in-law, Gerald and Linda Stauber, of Newell, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Hanna Carlson; his grandparents, Nathan and Ella Mae Carlson and Jeff and Catherine Goertz; and his god-father/uncle, Donald Carlson; as well as other aunts and uncles.
A Time of Gathering will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at a later date. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
