Lenona N “Noni” Raymond
May 24, 1951 - May 1, 2018

Surrounded with the love of her daughter, Bridgette, and her son-in-law, Aaron, Lenona passed away on May 1, 2018, at her home in Aurora, Colorado.

Born in Storm Lake, Iowa, to LaVerne and Leota Schossow, Lenona was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard, with whom she had the fortune of experiencing only 21 years of married life before his passing.

Lenona had many jobs over her lifetime including driving a semi-truck. Nevertheless, when finding herself with a bankrupt employer and facing unemployment at age 53, she returned to school where she eventually earned an associate’s degree qualifying her to work as a paralegal. She loved working with an estate planning law firm and its older clientele. She found such joy going into homes, providing solace to those needing to sign documents before they died, and using humor and compassion to help them through a difficult process.

Throughout her life, Lenona gave of herself in everything she did. She volunteered for Project Safeguard, attending court hearings with domestic violence victims seeking restraining orders. She volunteered as a deputy probation officer, maintaining her own caseload of clients. She volunteered at an elementary school, helping kids learning English as a second language, reading, and mastering math skills. Frequently, she would “adopt” children or families through the local human services agency for Christmas or for back to school needs.

Anyone who knew Lenona, knew how much she enjoyed NASCAR, especially when Jimmy Johnson was racing. In the final year of her life, Lenona filled her engagement card with joyful activities such as a NASCAR race, a Shen Yun and a Nutcracker performance, an outing to the zoo, making dates with family members, going to museums, spending time with out of town relatives, playing cards, etc.

Anyone who spent time with Lenona experienced her care and compassion as well as her unwavering generous spirit and acceptance of others. She lived under the radar, never wanting the light to shine on her, yet she was truly a leader and hero.

Lenona is survived by her daughter, Bridgette, and her son-in-law, Aaron, as well as by her siblings: LaVerne aka Skip (Sheila), LaVonne (Jim), LuAnn (Mike), Charlotte (Dave), Kenny (Shelly), Roger (Pam), Shelly (Randy), and Michele; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition, she maintained close relationships with her husband’s family, Doug Raymond (Sharleen), Jim Raymond (Joan), and Tom Raymond (Debbie). She, also, leaves behind her grandson, Goliath, whom she loved dearly as well as her beloved pets, Mitzy and Zoe.

A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at the Three Trees Chapel, 13416 W Arbor Place, Littleton, Colorado. A reception will follow immediately.

All-States Cremation, Denver Colorado, 2018.
