Kenlee Schomaker
July 26, 1953 - April 30, 2018

After a courageously fought battle with cancer, Kenlee Jay Schomaker, age 64, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Kenlee was born on July 26, 1953, to Clair and Maxine (Turnquist) Schomaker in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, he grew up in the Linn Grove area and attended school in the Sioux Valley school system. He graduated with the class of 1972 from Sioux Valley High. Next, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Feed and Fertilizer.

On October 13, 1979, Kenlee married the love of his life, Jane Feilmeier, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Nicole and Kelsey.

For many years, Kenlee drove a tank wagon truck for Larson Oil. He would go on to drive a semi-truck and finish his career by hauling products for Koster Grain. He loved tinkering in his garage, although when asked by his family what he accomplished, he could never really say. A man full of love, he was loved deeply by his family and friends as well. Everything he did, he did for “his girls.” He and Jane, along with their daughters, also ran a catering business on the side for over two decades. A volunteer firefighter and EMT, Kenlee served with the Early Fire Department for over twenty years. In his free time, he loved golfing and enjoyed playing cards. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane; his daughters, Nicole Schomaker, of Le Mars, Iowa, and Kelsey Schomaker, of Sioux City, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Wilma Feilmeier, of Early, Iowa; his brothers-in-law: Lynn Feilmeier, of Early, Iowa, Don (Mickey) Feilmeier, of Harcourt, Iowa, and Dale (Mary) Feilmeier, also of Early, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Kevin) Ehlers, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and his brother, Steven (Bev) Schomaker, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Kenlee is preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Maxine Schomaker; his father-in-law, Art Feilmeier; and his sister-in-law, Irene Feilmeier.
