Barbara L. Pewsey, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at her home in Storm Lake.

Barbara Lou Cundiff, a daughter of Orville and Edith (Christensen) Cundiff, was born at Ayrshire, Iowa, on December 3, 1938. She lived her youth and received her education through the eighth grade in Laurens, Iowa, and then after moving to Storm Lake, graduated from the Storm Lake High School in 1957. Confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Laurens in 1953 and baptized at the Evangelical Free Church in Fort Dodge in 1970, Barb married William C. Pewsey at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church on December 29, 1957. Four children were, subsequently, born to them: William (Billy), Charles (Chuck), Jennifer, and Melissa. Barb and Bill, then, spent their married years in Storm Lake where Bill owned a veterinary practice and Barb assisted him in addition to caring for her family.

An active and faithful member of the Summit Evangelical Free Church of Alta, Barb taught Sunday School and Bible School and lead Bible Study groups. A member of the Beta Sigma Phi, the Cosmopolitan, and the Christian Women’s Club, she held several offices. A woman of faith, Barb enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord with her family and friends. A hospitable person, she enjoyed entertaining her family and friends in her home for a cup of coffee. Barb and Bill enjoyed traveling, having taken trips to Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, DC, and Virginia to visit family. They, also, vacationed in Canada, in the Ozarks, and at Lake Okoboji, not to forget having taken a most memorable family trip to Idaho.

Barb’s life will be always cherished and loved by her family which includes her husband: William (Bill) C. Pewsey, of Storm Lake; her children: Bill (Joni) Pewsey, of Phoenix, Arizona, Jennifer (Edward) Tullar, of Alton, Iowa, and Melissa (Chris) Richter, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Crystal and Casey Fulgham, of Phoenix, Arizona, Kyle Pewsey, of Glendale, Arizona, Colette Pewsey, of Redwood City, California, Matthew Pewsey, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Anthony Pewsey, of Sterling, Virginia, Emilee Tullar, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Carlee (Colton) Warnke, of Waterloo, Iowa, Katie Tullar, of Alton, Iowa, Jason (Mallory) Richter, of Logan, Iowa, and Isaac Richter of Storm Lake, Iowa; four great grandchildren: Eliana, Ava, and Shea Fulgham and Katelyn Pewsey-Kallhoff; her sisters: Linda (Robert) Hay, of Lilburn, Georgia, Marie (Roger) Rudstrom, of Andover, Minnesota, and Kathleen Cundiff, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and two brothers-in-law: Lennart Boettcher, of Grimes, Iowa, and LeRoy McKinnis, of Snowflake, Arizona; as well as by nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Orville and Edith; her father- and mother-in-law, Hobart and Ruby Pewsey; her son, Charles; her brother, Sherman Cundiff; her sisters, Wanda Boettcher and Audrey McKinnis; her brother-in-law, Wes Stickrod; and a nephew, Chris Perkinson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
