July 14, 1988 - March 9, 2018Sarah Kelly Jensen, age 29, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on March 9, 2018, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Sarah Ann Kelly, a daughter of John and LuAnn (Boettcher) Kelly, was born on July 14, 1988, in Lake City, Iowa. A few years later, she welcomed home her younger brother, Patrick. Baptized on January 15, 1989, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda and confirmed there on April 21, 2003, she, also, received her First Holy Communion at that church on May 4, 1996. Indeed, she remained a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where in her younger years she served as an altar acolyte and sang in the church choir through the eighth grade.
From preschool through the eighth grade, Sarah attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School in Fonda. Her early years of Catholic education helped form her into the beautiful young lady she became, believing in her Lord and Savior. Sarah attended high school at Newell-Fonda Community Schools where she graduated in 2006. Next, Sarah enrolled at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, where she participated on the women’s golf team. Then, she transferred to Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where she, following in her mother, LuAnn’s, footsteps, graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
Over the coming years, she worked in a variety of nursing settings including long-term care and clinical dermatology care. In addition, she worked for Hope Harbor Behavioral Health at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake from the fall of 2011 until December 2016. Moreover, during this time, she pursued her dream of earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Family Practice from Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2016. In January of 2017, she started working for UnityPoint Palliative Care in Fort Dodge as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). A member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, she thrived on providing the best care to her patients and truly loved her patients and coworkers.
On September 23, 2017, Sarah married Josh Jensen in Telluride, Colorado. Together, they lived in Newell where Sarah enjoyed working around the house, reading books on the porch, planting flowers outside, and playing with her lab, Finn. In her spare time, she liked riding her bike and attending the yearly Ragbrai celebration. In addition, she loved spending time outdoors and exploring nature with her daddy, John, and baby brother, Patrick. She, also, looked forward to canning every year with her daddy. Sarah had a love for flowers, animals, golfing, and traveling anywhere warm. She treasured spending time with her niece, Scarlett, and looked forward to teaching her many things. She admired her mom, LuAnn, and shared a special mother-daughter bond with her.
Sarah and Josh often traveled to Colorado to spend time together at one of their favorite destinations while listening to John Denver sing Country Roads. They, also, enjoyed going to Okoboji to visit the Ritz or the Barefoot Bar on the lake. An avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, she, also, belonged to the Fonda Golf Course. In the last analysis, however, she, thoroughly, loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Josh Jensen, of Newell, Iowa; her parents, John and LuAnn Kelly, of Fonda, Iowa; her brother, Patrick (Kaitlyn) Kelly, of Worthing, South Dakota; her grandma, Caroline Boettcher, of Altoona, Iowa; her parents-in-law, Mike and Shelly Jensen, of Newell, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Lindsay (Jason) Parker, of Newell, Iowa; her niece, Scarlett Parker; and her grandma-in-law, JoAnn Haskins, of Newell, Iowa; as well as several aunts and uncles: Karen Kelly and family; Jane Kelly; Michael Kelly; Paul Kelly; Dennis Kelly and family; Eileen Deblois and family; Jeanice Regnier and family; and Brian Boettcher and family; along with other extended family members and many friends.
