Bonnie Mae Moize
August 31, 1932 - January 31, 2018

Bonnie Mae Moize, age 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on January 31, 2018, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Bonnie Mae was born to Wes and Laura Caughey on August 31, 1932, in Napa, California. While growing up, she loved the company of her dear sister, Helen, and numerous aunts and uncles. In high school, she enjoyed and excelled at basketball. After graduating, she trained as a buyer for a San Francisco department store. A short time later, she met Oscar Moize, and on January 17, 1954, she married the love of her life. In no time, they were blessed with their daughter, Debra, on October 29, 1954 in Vallejo, California. (Yes, the math works!)

Bonnie’s wandering spirit must have led her to Oscar, a United States Air Force serviceman. They soon began participating in her favorite activity… traveling. They toured France, Germany, and many U.S. States.

Tim was born on December 23, 1966, in Phoenix, Arizona. A month later, the Oscar Moizes, of Tucson, Arizona, adopted Tim and became his forever family.

Bonnie later lived the ‘Rocky Mountain Way’ in Colorado as the mother of a 12-year-old and a 2-year-old while Oscar was serving his country in South East Asia. Upon his return, the family was off to Kansas and then Wyoming where Bonnie’s love of animals allowed her to maintain a small menagerie of horses, dogs, and cats.

In 1972, Oscar retired from the service. Bonnie packed her bags once again for the move to Iowa. She wanted to put down roots near her sister and parents who were, now, living in Buena Vista County.

Bonnie loved to do the mowing and gardening at their new home. A faithful baseball mom, she discovered a new favorite pastime: Camping Club. She and Oscar spent many, many cherished weekends camping with their group of dear Camping Club friends. She, also, enjoyed knitting, participating in her card club, and supporting our Veterans.

Bonnie loved everything good in life… But nothing more than her cherished husband and sister. On January 31, 2018, she packed her bags one last time to join them.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Moize; and her sister, Helen (Robert) Holmes.

Those left to cherish her memory include Tim and Wendy Moize of Newell; Debbie Moize of Sulphur Springs; and her dear friend, Alice Falkner; as well as extended family members and friends.

We’ll miss you, Bon.
