Bruce Nelson, age 55, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on November 15, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Bruce M. Nelson, a son of Bill and Adeline (Kruckenburg) Nelson, was born on January 19, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa. Growing up, he attended school in Newell and graduated from Newell Providence High School. In time, he fathered three daughters.

Bruce enjoyed the outdoors. He, especially, liked boating, golfing, fishing, and antiquing. Indeed, an avid fisherman, he would use every opportunity he had to get out his pole. Moreover, he loved the Iowa Hawkeyes. Proud of his ability to help others, he worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Jackson Recovery. He will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kurstin (Brittney) Pierce, of Sioux City, Iowa; his sisters, Lois (Allan) Todd, of Holstein, and Cynthia (Bradley) Pedersen, of Alta, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Sylvia (Lynn) Krogstad, of Newell, Iowa; and a special friend, Jackie Yearous; as well as nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family members; and many friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Nelson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
