Lynn J. Bailey, age 69, of Marathon, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Lynn, a son of James W. and Beata (Monkelien) Bailey was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on April 30, 1948. He lived his youth in Marathon and received his education at the Marathon Consolidated School, graduating in 1966. In November of 1968, he married Joyce Smith. Subsequently, they were blessed with three sons: Brian, Brent, and Brad. Throughout his adult life, Lynn worked as an electrician, lineman, and heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and barbecuing. Most of all, however, Lynn treasured spending time with family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lynn’s life is celebrated by his family which includes his three sons: Brian (Michelle) and and Brad (Melissa) Bailey, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brent (Brenda) Bailey, of Chandler, Arizona; his grandchildren: Caleb, Isaac, Hannah, and Sebastian Bailey, all of Des Moines, Iowa, Camille and Gwyneth Bailey, both of Gilbert, Arizona, William (Christina) Bailey, of Spencer, Iowa, Lauren (Nick) Donahoe, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Arianna Rodriguez, of Chandler, Arizona; his great grandchildren: Declyn and Dallyn Donahoe, of Urbandale, Iowa, and one more expected great grandchild; three brothers: Neil (Kay) Bailey, of Elizabeth, Illinois, Wayne Bailey, of Ayrshire, Iowa, Dan (Tracey) Bailey, of Rembrandt, Iowa; and three sisters: Beverly (Mike) McConeghey, of Fairfield, Iowa; Bonnie Black (Harry Reese), of Laurens, Iowa, and Becky (Doug) Baker, also of Laurens, Iowa; as well as by other extended family members and many friends. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara; and a brother-in-law, Bob Black.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will follow at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
