Ellen (Slagle) Christie, age 42, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on May 30, 2017, in Florida.

Ellen Ruth Slagle, a daughter of Charles F. and Mary A. (Crowley) Slagle, was born on May 10, 1975, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, she attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1993. Continuing her education, she attended Buena Vista University and the University of South Dakota. On June 27, 1998, she married Jason Matthew Christie in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with one daughter, Chloe Anne Christie.

Ellen devoted her life to taking care of her loving family. She enjoyed art and crafting with her daughter or taking weekend trips to museums with her husband. She liked sunning by the pool, going to live Phish concerts with her friends, attending yoga classes, volunteering at her daughters’ school and in the community, and making her annual visits to Storm Lake to see family and friends. She will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jason Matthew Christie, of West Palm Beach, Florida; her daughter, Chloe Anne Christie, of West Palm Beach, Florida; her parents, Charles and Mary Slagle, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Slagle, and her son, Nickolas; and Susan (Cary) Slagle-Boyd, and their children: Isaac, Liam, Carly, David, and Jodi; her parents-in-law, Richard and Ardeth Christie; her sisters-in-law: Kelly (Tom) Braddy, and their children, Jacob and Anna; Tori Christie (Jay Killian); Brandi Christie (Matt Koehler) and their son, Milo; and her aunts and uncles: including Julia and David Nixon, Joan Schlegel, and Nancy and Tom Slagle; as well as extended family members and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her grandparents: Joseph and Della Crowley and Francis and Veronica Slagle; her uncle, Arman Schlegel; and an infant brother, Karl Joseph Slagle.

A Time of Remembrance will take place Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
