Jerry Stange, age 76, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Jerry Lee Stange, the youngest of the eight children of John and Florence (Dean) Stange, was born in Plymouth County, Iowa, on February 4, 1941. Baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, he lived his youth in the Rembrandt area and graduated from Fairview High School.

Then, Jerry drove truck with his brother, Willis. Indeed, he drove truck until he retired. In addition, he worked at Hygrade for many years and owned and operated a bar/restaurant in Varina and Albert City. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, playing slow pitch softball, and hunting. In later years, he enjoyed gambling, eating out, and playing cards. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, he attended a few games and eventually got to enjoy their big win.

Jerry married Karen Fisher, and their union was blessed with four children: Allen, Sonja, Jeff, and John. In 1993, Jerry married Joann (Wills) Christiansen at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Jerry’s life will always be remembered and cherished by his family which includes his four children: Allen (Deb) Stange and his family of Aurelia, Iowa, Sonja (Curtis) Sievers, and her family of Linn Grove, Iowa, Jeff (Sharon) Stange, and his family of Pomeroy, Iowa, and John (Dawn) Stange, and his family of Schaller, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his sister, Bernice (Elmer) Peters, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as by nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, two sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Lutheran Cemetery near Rembrandt. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing arrangements.
