Randy Rey Renshaw, age 66, of Sioux City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

A son of Jack and Helen (Anderson) Renshaw, Randy was born on November 18, 1950, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Randy attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1969. He continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where he studied Radio Broadcasting.

On February 12, 1972, Randy married Netti Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. During their twelve-year marriage, they had two children, Erin and Ben. On October 21, 1989, Randy married Lynn Costello at the Episcopal Church in Sioux City. That marriage was blessed with one child, Conner.

Randy began his broadcasting career at KAYL Radio in Storm Lake during high school. In 1973, he started as a professional at KLGA Radio in Algona. After thirteen years, he transferred to KSCJ Radio in Sioux City. Then he spent a while in some larger markets. Eventually, however, he came back to Sioux City, which he called “home.”

A true music lover, Randy, especially, enjoyed the band, Chicago. In November of 2016, he, even, realized his life-long dream of personally meeting the band members with Erin. Outside of his career, Randy loved fishing, a hobby that he started as a young child. Indeed, he took many fishing trips with his parents, his sons, and his best friend, Ray. Randy also liked to spend time with Connie on many vacations and cruises.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Erin (Dale) Lappe, of Wesley, Iowa, Ben (Stephanie) Renshaw, of Algona, Iowa, and Conner Renshaw, of Maurice, Iowa; his grandchildren: Megan, Matthew, Emily, Eden, and Navan; his fiancée, Connie Lanagan, of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and his best friend, Ray Watt, of Springfield, Illinois; as well as extended family members and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Renshaw.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place for one hour before the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
