Marvel Marie Hayes
February 13, 1920 - December 19, 2016Marvel Marie Hayes, age 96, of Carter Lake, Iowa, passed away on December 19, 2016, at the CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
She was born on February 13, 1920, in Correctionville, Iowa, and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1941. She lived in Storm Lake, Iowa, and retired from Buena Vista Manor. In 2002, she moved to Carter Lake to be closer to her son, Larry, and his family. She was very active in the Senior Center and First Baptist Church.
Marv was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Marie; her father, Bill Ahrendsen; her stepmother, Ida; her mother and stepfather, “Goldie” and Al Gates; and her brother, Chuck (Loui) Ahrendsen.
She is survived by her twin sister, Marg Mann; her son, Larry (Marlene) Hayes; her granddaughters, Sharon Marie (Scott) Way and Annette Waddell; five great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. also at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
