STORM LAKE BUENA VISTA VIDETTE - Fri, Oct 6, 1905 - Mrs Adolph Marten, died Friday Sept 29th, at her home on Seneca Street after an illness of four months.

Amelia Schmiding was born in Germany May 1, 1839. Her mother died when she was but 4 years of age. When nine years old she started with her father for America. He was taken sick and died on the ocean.

She was married Aug 22, 1862 to Adolph Marten in Wisconsin. Thirty five years ago they came to Iowa settling in Eden township, Sac county, where they lived until a few years ago when they came to Storm Lake.

She was the mother of 10 children: Mrs Luthman, Mrs T.A. Marten, and Dr E.G. Marten of Schaller; Mrs John Wise and Mrs Will Karges of Eden township; Robert who died when 5 years old; Mrs August Sickman of Lincoln township; Miss Mata Marten, Mrs Ford Steffen of Webster, SD; and the youngest, Frieda. All of the children were present during the last hour of life.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday Oct 3 at the Lakeside church. The body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery.
