Storm Lake Register - Thu, May 2, 1929 - John Roblin, well known and highly esteemed resident of this city and the community for more than 30 years, died at the hospital here Monday afternoon following an illness of nearly a year. Mr Roblin was taken to the hospital last June, where everything was done for him in hopes that he might regain his health. His condition was so serious that it was of no avail and death came Monday of this week.

John Roblin was born in Lowell, Michigan Nov 29, 1856, and at the time of his death was 72 years and 5 months of age.

He moved from there to Canada when a small child and his young manhood days were spent in Canada. From there he moved to Illinois and was married at that place to Miss Ida Swinger at Annawan, IL.

To this union three children were born: Mrs Ed Noyer of Eldora; Fred Roblin of Kanawha, Iowa; and Walter Roblin of Eldora, Iowa. Mrs Roblin died at Annawan when the children were small and they went to live with a grandmother and an aunt.

Later Mr Roblin came to Iowa locating at Schaller for several years and from there moved to Buena Vista county locating on a farm south of Storm Lake.

He was married Feb 2, 1899 to Mrs Laura Shellenberger and Mr and Mrs Roblin made their home on their farm south of Storm Lake until a year ago, when they leased their farm and moved to Storm Lake. To this union one son, Charles Roblin, of Huron SD was born.

Besides his wife and four children, Mr Roblin leave one sister, Mrs Mary Garnet of Fielding, Sask, Canada; one grandchild, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church Thursday afternoon and burial will be in the local cemetery.
