Vilaythong Khamtan
December 5, 1944 - May 6, 2016Vilaythong Khamtan, age 71, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, May 6, 2016, in Storm Lake.
Vilaythong Khamtan, a daughter of Vuey and Kheng Anouluck, was born on December 5, 1944, in Thailand. On December 15, 1959, she married Panh Khamtan in Vientiane, Laos.
In her spare time, she enjoyed watching television, cooking, and cleaning. She, always, had to stay busy. She was, forever, welcoming friends and family over to her house. Moreover, she enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. In addition, she loved visiting the local Temple and supported fundraising for the Temple. Of course, she, also valued her family, and she treasured spending time with her grandchildren whenever possible. She, especially, liked telling them stories and dancing with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Panh Khamtan, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Somchay (significant other Nanmi Mi) Khamtanh, Thongkham (significant other Jindasuk Xayyavong) Khamtan, Thongkhun (Khit Syhavong) Khamtan, Viengvilay (Phetsamone) Khamtanh, and Lanoy (Ki) Maloutaphong, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Pathoumma (Keo) Phrommany, of Burnsville, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her brother, Kong Anouluck, of Thailand; as well as extended family members and friends.
Vilaythong was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lutda; and an infant son, Vannah.
Traditional Buddhist Rites will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, May 13, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
