Corwin "Cork" J. Kruse, age 73, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Fonda Specialty Care Center in Fonda, Iowa.

Corwin Junior Kruse, a son of August and Dorathea (Buchholz) Kruse, was born on May 11, 1943, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized on May 13, 1943, at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake and confirmed there as well on April 14, 1957, he remained a lifelong member and served on many church committees. Growing up, he attended grade school at Zion Parochial and then graduated from the Albert City high school in 1961. In 1963, he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard where he served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1970.

On August 25, 1968, Corwin married Janice Elaine Fetters. Subsequently, they adopted a son, Jason Junior Kruse.

Corwin valued his family. Indeed, he treasured the time he was able to spend with them. He, also, enjoyed farming and lived on the family farm his entire life. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting toy John Deere tractors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-seven years, Janice, of Albert City, Iowa; his son, Jason (Amy) Kruse, of Albert City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Alyssa, Toby, and Titus; his brothers, Don (Carol) Kruse, of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Wayne (Marian) Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his sister, Darlene Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Corwin was preceded in death by his parents, August and Dorathea Kruse, and his brother-in-law, Carl Dean Fetters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
