Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Mar 4, 1937 - Funeral services for Mrs Forest McConkey of Redwood Falls, MN, who died Monday morning in the University hospital at Minneapolis were conducted at the Hughes Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
Opha Crowley McConkey, daughter of Michael and Julia Crowley, was born south of Storm Lake on Nov 16, 1886. While a young girl she became identified with the Pilgrim Presbyterian church and grew to womanhood in the Hayes community.
When her parents left the farm, she accompanied them to Storm Lake and was married to Forest McConkey on Feb 5, 1913. They farmed in Hayes township for three years and then moved to Wessington Springs, SD and later to Redwood Falls, MN.
She leaves to mourn her husband, a daughter, LaVonna, and a son, Robert; also her mother, Mrs Julia Crowley; a brother, Fred Crowley; and four sisters: Mrs Martha Ford, Mrs Bertha Johnston, Mrs Milo Robinson, and Mrs Erroll Roberts, all of Storm Lake.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs George Craven of Fairbault, MN; Mr and Mrs Bly McConkey of Lake City; Mr and Mrs Don Ford of Auburn, Miss Marian Ford of Lytton, Mr and Mrs Will Hawton, Mr and Mrs Fred Stancer, and Mr and Mrs Walter Palmer, all of Redwood Falls, MN.
