Storm Lake Pilot - Nov 9, 1882 - The death of Mrs Phila Maynard which occurred last Thursday afternoon at the home of her son, S.S. Maynard, one and a half miles southeast of Sulphur Springs, is one of which more than usual sadness is attached and has spread the shroud of sorrow over the entire community in which she resided.

The deceased was nearly 86 years of age and the mother of two sons, one of whom resides in Dakota. She came to Iowa 8 years ago and has lived in Buena Vista county the larger portion of that time.

Funeral services were held last Sunday at the family home, Rev Joshua Cook of this city, officiating and the remains were brought to Storm Lake's cemetery for interment.

Although belonging to no particular church or denomination, Mrs Maynard lived a life of devotion to the Divine Ruler, a noble woman, true mother, and died in the belief and knowledge of Christian sincerity. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all.
