Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Jan 11, 1918 - Mrs Emily Mack, aged 77 years, died at the home of her son, George C Mack at 9:30 Friday evening, Jan 4, 1918 after a five days illness with uremic poisoning. Her death was very unexpected and caused great sorrow to her relatives.
Emily A Smith was born in Cooperstown, PA April 25, 1841 and while she was still a child the family moved to Winslow, IL. She was married to Robert E Mack on May 1, 1861.
To this union were born 9 children: Celia A Theil, Storm Lake, IA; Kate, who died in infancy; Sarah McBride Truesdale IA; Harry A Mack, DeGraff, MN; Lydia J Sheldon, Storm Lake; William H Mack, Rockwell City; George C Mack, Storm Lake; Cynthia L Addyman, Willistown, N.D.; and Robert E Mack, Cherryvale, Kansas. All of the living children were present at the funeral services except Robert E Mack.
The family moved to Buena Vista county in 1885, remained two years on the farm then moved to Storm Lake, where Mr Mack died on Jan 19, 1892.
Her funeral service were conducted at the home and at the Methodist Episcopal church. The remains were laid away in the Storm Lake cemetery on Sunday Jan 6.
