Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Sep 30, 1904 - Eli Lockwood died at his home on Thursdqy Sept 22 at 2:30 p.m. after an illness which extended over several months.

The deceased was born in Madrid, St Lawrence County, New York on May 1, 1836. On July 22, 1863 he was united in marriage to Miss Rebekah Day, ten years later they located at Early, Sac county, moving to Buena Vista county in 1885, taking possession of the farm he had purchased south of the lake. Here the family resided until 5 years ago when they moved to Storm Lake. In 1865 he was converted and has since lived a consistent Christian life.

Besides the wife of his youth, who now mourns his death, three daughters: Mrs C.D. Bemis at Laverne, IA; Mrs John Williamson of Montevideo, Miss; and Mrs Frank Ackert of Hayes township; and a son, Ira, who has always lived at home survive and all of whom were here.

Mr Lockwood was always a good citizen, an exemplary Christian man, devoted to his family and until his illness, which was a great burden for him to bear and during which he suffered intensely, he always took an active interest in affairs.

The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the M.E. church. The remains were interred in the Storm Lake cemetery.
