Storm Lake Register - Dec 2, 1926 - J.W. Leininger, a resident of Storm Lake for a number of years and well known and highly esteemed in the community passed away at his home, 310 Geneseo street, on the morning of Thanksgiving day at 5 o'clock, following an illness of some time. His death is deeply mourned by relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Mr Leininger had been in ill health for some time and had been confined to his bed the greater part of the past four months since Aug 4.

J.W. Leininger was born in Canton, Ohio Aug 4, 1837 and at the time of this death on Thursday Nov 25th, was in his 90th year.

In 1861 he was united in marriage to Miss Harriett Rank of Ohio. They went to live in Tonica, IL in March 1883. Mrs Leininger passed away in Jan 1892.

On Oct 1, 1896 he was married to Miss Alcene Early of Farmington who preceded him in death Feb 24, 1925. They came to Storm Lake in 1903, where he had since resided. He was a member of a large family of brothers and two sisters. The last of his immediate family also preceded him in death.

A patron of the soil he brought dignity to his calling. He has been watched over and cared for by his nieces, whose care and tenderness did much to soothe his declining years and bear the pain of a lingering sickness.

He leaves to mourn his death his nieces, Misses Emma and Flora Leininger.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church last Saturday afternoon. Interment was in the local cemetery.

Those from out of town in attendance at the funeral services were: Mrs R.A. Lindsay and daughter, Mrs Gunzhauser of Raleigh, IA; and Ora Early of Hillsboro, Iowa.
