Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Feb 20, 1930 - Mrs Keith died Sunday at the hospital after a lingering illness.
Mrs Sarah Keith, a resident of Storm Lake for the past 50 years and beloved by all her relatives and friends, passed away at the hospital Sunday Feb 16. Mrs Keith had been in failing health for some time and a week or so before her death she underwent an operation, hoping that she might be benefitted. During her illness all of her children were called to her bedside and she was able to visit with them before death called her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the Baptist church. The body was laid to rest in the local cemetery.
Sarah Ann Crook was born Oct 2, 1855 at Baraboo, WI. She was the third child of Peter and Catharine Crook. At the age of 2 her family moved to Trenton, WI, where she spent her childhood and girlhood. Many times she entertained her children with descriptions of the beautiful tree clad Wisconsin hills and her happy life there. She responded many times to the request of a story about the Indians when she was a little girl.
At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to Lester C Keith and to this union were born 6 children, all living except Louis, the eldest. They lived in Dakota and Iowa and then 50 years ago came to Storm Lake, shortly after moving to the Keith place where they reared their family. Soon after coming to Storm Lake, both Mr and Mrs Keith united with the First Baptist church.
Mrs Keith was preceded in death by her husband, her son Louis, and two brothers, John and William Crook of Whittier, CA.
She leaves to mourn 5 children: Mrs Katherine Frantz, Storm Lake; Mrs Blanche Beyl, Donna, Texas; Peter Ray Keith, Los Angeles; Adam John Keith, Houston, Texas; and Mrs Marjorie Crowley, Storm Lake; also 3 sisters: Mrs Anna Butman, Mrs Katie Jones, and Mrs Martha Sharpless, all of Whittier, CA; and 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
