Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - September 12, 1929 - Mrs Elizabeth Keal, the widow of James Keal, one of the old settlers of Buena Vista county, died Sunday evening Sept 8, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.G. Avenell, 1030 West 6th street, Storm Lake.
Mrs Keal was born in Lincolnshire, England at Colby, Jun 16, 1848 and was 81 years old when she died.
She came to this country in 1871, where she was married and in 1884 settled on a homestead in Providence township, where she resided.
In 1910 they moved to Yakima, WA where her husband died after a 14 year absence, when she brought her husband back to be buried in the cemetery where she takes her place by his side.
They owned the old homestead for 45 years, the same being still the Keal homestead, where she endeared herself by sterling good to her many neighbors and friends who were settled around them. She was one of the supporters of the Sulphur Springs Presbyterian church.
Six of her children survive her: Mrs C.E. Fort of Rockford, IL; William Keal of White Bluffs, WA; Mrs W.G. Avenell, of Storm Lake; Thomas Keal of Storm Lake; Mrs Samuel Brand of Dayton, Ohio; and Mrs O.L. Beam of Modesto, CA.
A daughter Bertha died in 1919.
Her two brothers, Chas Cook and Thomas Cook of Chicago also survive her, besides 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Wednesday from Lakeside Presbyterian church.
