Storm Lake Register - March 30, 1937 - Victor Herpst, 70, a resident of Sac and Buena Vista counties for about 53 years, died at the county farm Saturday at 5:30 pm. His health had been gradually failing and during the past two weeks he was confined to his bed.
Funeral services were conducted Monday. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
Victor Herpst was born in Hanover, Germany on June 6, 1866. At the age of 18 he came to the US coming to Iowa almost immediately and locating in Sac County, where he engaged in farming. Later moving to Storm Lake, he and married Emma Marshall, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Marshall.
After about 30 years of farming Mr Herpst retired in the year of 1932. He was good husband and father and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and four children: Albert and George of Storm Lake; William of Emmetsburg; and Mrs Roy Sassman of Albert City; and 12 grandchildren.
A daughter, Anna, preceded in him death 13 years ago.
